My past clinical experience involves pediatric Intensive care, adult intensive care, outpatient surgery and recovery room. My clinical interest comprise of children and families living with tracheostomies and airway disorders.
My philosophy of care is guided by a strong work ethic and commitment to provide the best patient care for children. My intention is to deliver competent, compassionate and holistic care. This philosophy stems from the values instilled in me during my early nursing school formation. I believe that every child is a unique individual who needs a stimulating, secure, and caring environment in order to grow and develop emotionally and physically. It is my goal to promote the best patient care for patients and families in our Otolaryngology department. I strive to be a patient advocate and educator to stimulate good health practices and disease awareness. I’m also fluent in Spanish which helps me promote communication and education in our multicultural community.
Additionally, working in Texas Children’s Hospital allows me to serve as a mentor and educator for others. I serve as the Otolaryngology clerkship director for the Pediatric Physician Assistant Fellowship program.
My clinical research interest focuses on improving clinical related outcomes for children with tracheostomy tubes, decreasing hospital visits and readmissions, and improving follow up and care coordination amongst the medical team. Furthermore, I’m an active participant in multicenter collaborative research network to improve the care and outcome of tracheostomy patients. Additional research interest includes the utilization of advance practice providers in Houston Medical Center area.
