Get to know Jeffrey C. Klick, MD
Dr. Jeffrey Klick joined the field of Pediatric Palliative Care (PPC) in 2005 at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia. While always focused on clinical care, Dr. Klick has also been a national leader in education and training, program development, and standards of practice. He has started two fellowship programs, founded the Division of PPC at Emory University and Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, and has a long track record of service within the American Academy of Pediatrics and American Academy of Hospice and Palliative Medicine.
In 2023, Dr. Klick’s journey brought him to Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine where he serves as senior faculty and a core clinician on the PPC team at the North Austin Campus. In addition to his focus on clinical care and serving as a leader within the American Academy of Pediatrics, Dr. Klick is working to build the fields knowledge of operational benchmarks, clinical standards of practice, and better ways to assess the value of PPC.
Personal Statement
Children with serious illnesses and their families often experience physical, emotional, social, and spiritual distress due to the illness. As a palliative care clinician, I partner with children, their families, and other clinicians to identify opportunities to improve quality and enjoyment of life and to mitigate the medially associated distress.
Clinical Interests
Clinical ethics, symptom management, PPC as a system-based practice
