Get to know Jamie Gilley, PhD, MSN, APRN, NNP-BC
Jamie Gilley, PhD, MSN, APRN, NNP-BC is a board-certified Neonatal Nurse Practitioner in the level IV Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) at Texas Children’s Hospital (TCH). From the beginning of her career, Jamie’s passion has always been caring for the most critically ill neonates and their families. She has a passion for research and gained her PhD at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston with a dissertation focus on pulmonary hypertension in infants born with congenital diaphragmatic hernia. She is the chair of the Newborn Center Nurse Practitioner Retention and Recruitment Committee which has led to the development of a mission statement, mentor program, establishment of a retention fund account, creation of a dedicated website, and has assisted with the improvement of employee retention and recruitment rates.
Research Interests
Jamie has a research background in congenital diaphragmatic hernia and has participated in several evidenced based collaborations including being a key stakeholder in developing the current clinical guidelines used in the TCH NICU. She is a member of The Laboratory for Regenerative Tissue Repair at Baylor College of Medicine where she completed her PhD dissertation work with a focus on the pulmonary artery pathobiology in congenital diaphragmatic hernia and its role in pulmonary hypertension in this population. She has presented her research nationally and internationally to enhance global knowledge over congenital diaphragmatic hernia.
