Get to know Chrissie Massrey, MD
Dr. Massrey is a Pediatric Neurologist specializing in neurodevelopmental disabilities and pediatric neurocritical care. She brings a neurodevelopmental perspective to the care of every patient, recognizing the importance of both acute neurologic management and long-term developmental outcomes. Her clinical work includes providing care for critically ill children in the Neuro ICU, as well as longitudinal follow-up through the MIND Clinic, where she focuses on monitoring neurodevelopmental outcomes, identifying emerging challenges, and supporting recovery and quality of life following critical illness or neurologic injury. She is passionate about bridging the gap between acute neurologic care and long-term developmental health, with an individualized, family-centered approach that addresses each child's evolving needs. In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Massrey is actively involved in research focused on neurodevelopmental outcomes following pediatric acquired brain injury.
Personal Statement
My philosophy of care is simple: I strive to treat every patient as I would want a member of my own family to be treated. I believe that providing excellent neurologic care means looking beyond a diagnosis or isolated brain injury to understand the whole child and the ways their health impacts their everyday life. My background in neurodevelopmental disabilities shapes this approach, reminding me that checking in on a child's school performance, friendships, and developmental progress can be just as important as managing seizures or prescribing medications. I value building lasting relationships with patients and their families, working together to help each child reach their fullest potential.
Outside of medicine, I love spending time with friends and family, exploring Houston's ever-changing restaurant scene, and traveling with my husband and our twins. One of my greatest joys is introducing my children to new places, cultures, and experiences around the world.
Clinical Interests
Acquired brain injury, autism, NDD outcomes following critical illness, disorders of consciousness
