Dr. Bhatt's research interests are in the area of retinopathy of prematurity (ROP). He is especially interested in the role of VEGF-inhibitors in the treatment of severe ROP. He serves as head of the Texas Children's Hospital and Ben Taub General Hospital Neonatal Intensive Care Unit ROP screening programs, as well as head of the Texas Children's Hospital Emergency and Inpatient Pediatric Ophthalmology consultation service, and also provides medical and surgical services for all aspects of outpatient pediatric ophthalmology and adult strabismus.
