Get to know Ajibike Lapite, MD, MPHTM
Dr. Ajibike Lapite began her pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship training in 2022.
Dr. Lapite committed to a career in hematology/oncology in her adolescence. A number of personal experiences made clear to her that geography dictates patient outcomes and that patient advocacy and clinical care are inextricable. Dr. Lapite pursued coursework in molecular biology and global health & health policy as an undergraduate at Princeton University. Dr. Lapite subsequently received a combined MD/MPHTM degree at Tulane University. Dr. Lapite completed public health research regarding how to employ public health efforts to reduce cervical cancer burden in West Africa, ultimately earning the Outstanding Student in Tropical Medicine MPHTM - Clinical Program Award.
Dr. Lapite completed her pediatric residency at Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). She continued patient advocacy efforts as the co-lead of CHOP’s resident health policy research team. She participated in both hematology (particularly sickle cell disease) and oncology (particularly surrounding communication and renal tumors) research during her residency. Prior to her fellowship, she spent one year on the Cincinnati Children’s Hospital Medical Center (CCHMC) bone marrow transplant team.
Dr. Lapite looks forward to growing as a pediatric hematologist-oncologist, physician-scientist, and advocate over the course of her fellowship.
