Personal Statement
Throughout my career, I have explored opportunities to develop my expertise as a clinician and as an educational leader. I strive for excellence in caring for ill and injured children in the Medical Center, West, and The Woodlands Campuses Emergency Centers.
I am passionate about supporting diversity, equity, and inclusion within medical education at all levels. At the start of the COVID pandemic, I co-founded the Next Gen Pediatricians (NGP) program with four other pediatric trainees. Our virtual mentoring program for students underrepresented in medicine (UIM) has since provided mentoring for over 100 medical students annually across the country. As part of the executive board, I aim to expand the reach of our program and disseminate scholarly output.
As a faculty member in the Division of Pediatric Emergency Medicine, I teach simulation to pediatric and emergency medicine residents. I also support trainees as a resident society advisor and member of the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) for the Pediatric Residency Program. At the undergraduate medical education level, I am a member of the Academy of Clinical Teaching and Assessment (ACTA). I direct the Radiology Rounds curriculum for pediatric emergency medicine fellows. I aim to continue to develop my expertise in didactic teaching, learner assessments, mentoring, and curriculum design.
