Our Programs

Music Therapy is the clinical and evidence-based use of music interventions to accomplish individualized goals within a therapeutic relationship by a credentialed professional who has completed an approved music therapy program (American Music Therapy Association, 2017).

Texas Children’s Pawsitive Play Program is designed to enhance the emotional well-being of patients and families in the hospital. The animal-assisted therapy dogs provide support to those who may be having trouble coping with a hospital stay, new diagnosis or certain medical procedure.

Art Therapy is an integrative mental health profession that enriches the lives of individuals, families, and communities through the clinical, evidence-based application of art and creative processes within a therapeutic relationship (American Art Therapy Association, 2017).

Kids’ Own Studio is connected to the Child Life Zone and exists to enhance the patient and family experience by providing a professional studio to fulfill the production dreams of TV, Film and Music for the patients and families. Patients are offered complete creative control on their various projects via instrument selection, video editing, story development and participation in an interactive closed-circuit television station. This ensures patients and families leave with positive memories and experiences during their stay at Texas Children’s Hospital.

Opening in 2001, the Child Life Zone is located on the 16th floor within the West Tower of the Medical Center campus.  Generously funded by the Teammates for Kids Foundation, The Zone is a unique space, within Texas Children’s Hospital, where patients and families can gather together to hang out, play games, create art, make new friends and find a bit of respite from hospital routines.

At Texas Children’s Hospital we believe that maintaining your child’s educational needs are important. We want you to feel supported in helping your child with their school work while advocating for their educational needs. When a child is hospitalized, keeping up with school work can provide structure, a distraction from illness, and a focus on a future outside of the hospital.
