Histiocytic disorders are rare diseases where certain immune cells (called histiocytes) grow and build up in different parts of the body, which can cause inflammation and damage. Examples include Langerhans cell histiocytosis, Erdheim-Chester Disease, Rosai-Dorfman Disease, Juvenile Xanthogranuloma and hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis.
This study does not test a new drug or treatment. Instead, it focuses on collecting samples, such as blood, tissue from biopsies, cerebrospinal fluid or saliva from patients during routine medical procedures. Researchers will study these samples to learn more about what causes these disorders and how they progress. The goal is to improve future diagnosis and treatment options.
