Standing with families
At Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center, we are proud to help children and adolescents facing cancer and rare and serious blood disorders. Since opening in 1954, we have been dedicated to improving outcomes for young patients facing some of the most complex and life-threatening conditions. Through world-class clinical care, groundbreaking research and unwavering commitment to families, we continue to advance treatments and create new possibilities for children who need them most.
Our work has helped transform what is possible for children with cancer. When our Center opened, only one in 10 children diagnosed with cancer survived. Today, more than 80% will be cured. Yet our mission is not complete. We are determined to develop better therapies with fewer side effects and ultimately achieve cures for every child affected by cancer.
At the same time, we are leading advances for children with rare and serious blood disorders, including sickle cell disease, thalassemia, inherited and acquired anemias, bone marrow failure syndromes, bleeding and clotting disorders, and other complex hematologic conditions. Through innovative research, stem cell transplantation, gene-based therapies and multidisciplinary care, we are improving quality of life, expanding treatment options and, where possible, delivering cures.
With powerful new tools in precision medicine, immunology, genetics and cellular therapies, we are uncovering the underlying causes of both cancer and blood disorders and translating those discoveries into better outcomes for children and families. Because every child deserves the opportunity to live a healthy and fulfilling life, and every breakthrough brings us closer to that goal.
