Three Texas Children’s Patients Surprised with Special Invitation to Houston Texans Training Camp

HOUSTON (July 24, 2025) – Texas Children’s is pleased to announce that three Texas Children’s patients have received special invitations to attend Houston Texans Training Camp on Saturday, July 26.
The patients and their families will enjoy exclusive access in a VIP tent, meet players up close and receive a unique surprise during the event. As part of an exciting new initiative to create memorable experiences for patients, partners and employees, Texas Children’s has collaborated with the Houston Texans to help facilitate this unique opportunity for its patients.
“Texas Children’s is honored to create these special experiences for our deserving patients and their families,” said Kelly Jo Golson, Chief Brand & External Affairs Officer at Texas Children’s. “These memorable family activities exemplify our unwavering commitment to support the whole patient — fostering joy, resilience and connection as a part of the healing journey. We are grateful for our partnership with the Houston Texans and their support in together creating these memories for our patients and their families.”
Texas Children’s team members had the privilege of surprising these patients at their homes alongside family members and special guests from their clinical care teams to share in the excitement. These heartfelt moments set the stage for what promises to be an inspiring day at Training Camp.
“We’re looking forward to hosting three very special patients and dedicated Texas Children’s team members at Houston Texans Training Camp this weekend,” said Brian George, Houston Texans Senior Vice President of Partnerships and Luxe. “Training camp signals the start of another exciting season of Houston Texans football, and we can’t wait to create more world-class experiences through our partnership with Texas Children's this season.”
Selected patients have special ties to Texas Children’s and inspiring stories of their own. Paige is a 15-year-old scoliosis patient who underwent a Vertebral Body Tethering (VBT) procedure in 2023; she is now thriving as a junior varsity cheerleader. Karter is a 13-year-old leukemia patient who rang the bell in May 2025 to celebrate the end of his successful treatment. Kamdyn is a 6-year-old survivor who received a heart transplant in 2020 and a second heart transplant in 2024.
In addition to celebrating these patients, Texas Children’s is recognizing its extraordinary nurses and clinical staff for their outstanding work and the life-changing care they provide every day. All honored guests will receive special gifts to proudly represent Texas Children’s throughout the event.
