Texas Children's, in accordance with the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) guidance, has standard masking regulations in place which are subject to change. The Volunteer Services team will provide you with the most up to date masking guidelines.
Being fully vaccinated against COVID-19, including any booster dose(s) of the COVID-19 vaccine recommended by the Centers for Disease Control when eligible, is required for all employees and volunteers.
Volunteers are selected based on the current needs of the hospital along with the volunteers availability, interests and skill sets. Not all applicants will be selected at this time.
As a volunteer at Texas Children's you may interact with a patient with complex medical needs, and adapt to the needs of the patient, family and staff.
Many of our placements are designed to be solo assignments, you should be comfortable working with minimal supervision.
As a volunteer it is not appropriate to build relationships with patients and families that will continue outside of the hospital, doing so may result in being removed from the volunteer program.
As a volunteer it is not appropriate to share your own personal experiences or medical history with our patients and families.
Volunteering is not the path to employment at Texas Children's.
Volunteer services does not provide clinical experience or opportunities to shadow with a healthcare professional.
As a volunteer you are comfortable bringing concerns to your supervisor.
