Get to know Shaynora Brown, OD
Dr. Brown is a therapeutic optometrist and optometric glaucoma specialist. Originally from The Bahamas, she moved to Houston to pursue tertiary level education from the University of Houston. As someone who has always been inspired to care for pediatric patients, she is excited to join the team and provide care at Texas Children’s Pediatrics Westwood.
Her hobbies include traveling, dancing, Pilates, reading and spending time with loved ones. Dr. Brown is also a children’s book author launching her first book “My OD Looks Like Me” in 2023. This new endeavor allows her to follow her passion in facilitating spaces where children feel supported and loved, especially for those that are underrepresented in the community.
Personal Statement
I am dedicated to providing high-level eye care to my patients and thrive on creating an environment that supports them and their families. Vision and eye health are critical to manage in the pediatric patient as any deficits can potentially lead to delays with learning and development. I believe that working and collaborating with all healthcare professionals will allow for a better thriving individual, which will in turn lead to a healthier child.
