Mikaela is a Sports Physical Therapist who specializes in working with adolescent and competitive athletes who are determined to return to the sports they love. She completed a sports physical therapy residency and brings her own experience as a former Division I gymnast to her approach to patient care.
Mikaela is passionate about working with athletes of all ages and incorporates strength and conditioning principles, sport-specific demands and current research to provide evidence-based rehabilitation. She believes that rehabilitation should prepare athletes not only to return to their sport, but to feel confident and physically prepared to perform at their best when they return to competition.
As a former athlete herself, Mikaela understands the physical and mental demands that come with returning from injury. She strives to create individualized rehabilitation programs that challenge athletes appropriately, build confidence and help them achieve their goals. She plans to formally take the sports specialty certification in 2027.
Personal Statement
I am passionate about caring for athletes and helping them return to the sports and activities they love with confidence. As a former Division I gymnast, I understand firsthand the physical and mental demands that come with training, competing and recovering from injury. This experience has shaped my approach to physical therapy and strengthened my commitment to advocating for each athlete throughout their recovery.
As a sports physical therapist, I believe effective rehabilitation is a collaborative process. I strive to understand each athlete’s individual goals and the unique demands of their sport while working closely with the athlete, their family, coaches and medical team to develop a plan that supports a safe and successful return to play. I am passionate about providing evidence-based care while creating an environment where athletes feel heard, supported and empowered throughout the rehabilitation process.
Outside of the clinic, I love staying active through working out and going on walks. I also enjoy spending time with my German Shepherd, shopping and relaxing at the beach.
