Get to know Michael Bowen, LPC, LMFT
Michael Bowen is a licensed professional counselor (and licensed marriage and family therapist in the Texas Children's IOP program as a behavioral health clinician. He has a wide breadth of experience providing treatment in inpatient, PHP and IOP settings. He has experience working with adolescents that struggle with suicidal thoughts, depression, anxiety, bipolar disorder, psychosis and substance abuse. He utilizes evidence-based practices such as cognitive behavioral therapy techniques, motivational interviewing and parent management training to meet patients' individual needs. He also has experience providing conflict resolution and communication skills to address conflicts between patients and family members at home. Mr. Bowen provides treatment through individual, group and family therapy.
Personal Statement
Helping patients and their families during a time of crisis is a passion of mine. I believe that therapy best works when I meet patients and their families where they are and guide them through their path of healing. I take a holistic approach to treatment that includes active listening/reflection, psychoeducation and emotional regulation techniques to help patients cope with their emotions. I work with patients and their families in a collaborative, personalized approach to help them reach their healthcare goals.
