Get to know Mary Tran, PA-C
Mary Tran, PA-C has been a Physician Assistant in the Congenital Heart Surgery Program since graduation from the Baylor College of Medicine PA program in 2009. She has utilized her clinical and administrative skills to affect all aspects of care in the program in an effort to continuously improve the patient and family experience and positively impact the future of medicine.
Her outpatient accomplishments include establishing the Congenital Heart Surgery Outpatient Clinic as it is run today. As the first dedicated advanced practice provider to lead the clinic, she was able to update the processes and facilitate multidisciplinary care for the pre- and post-operative heart surgery patient. In 2018, she returned to the clinic to facilitate the move to Legacy Tower. In the Cardiovascular Operating Room, she helped establish protocols to facilitate safe patient transition into and out of the CVOR, first and second assisted in OR cases, and actively participated in postoperative care.
In the educational realm, she has advised countless high school, college and advanced practice students and providers, and participated in the education of medical students and residents. When the PA fellowship was established at Texas Children’s, as the clerkship director from 2014-2018, she helped formulate the curriculum for the congenital heart surgery rotation. Throughout her career in the congenital heart surgery service, she has endeavored to continuously improve the service, patient experience and outcomes and lead in the growth of Texas Children’s.
