Get to know Kayla L. Foster, MD, MPH
Dr. Kayla Foster is a triple-board certified physician trained in Internal Medicine and Pediatrics, with subspecialty fellowship training in Pediatric Hematology-Oncology from St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. She serves as a clinician in the Long-Term Survivor Clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital, where she provides comprehensive care to pediatric and adult survivors of childhood cancer. Her clinical focus is on delivering equitable, personalized, and evidence-based survivorship care across the age continuum.
In addition to her clinical work, Dr. Foster holds multiple national leadership roles aimed at advancing survivorship care. She is part of the Expert Panel for the Children’s Oncology Group (COG) Long-Term Follow-Up Guidelines and serves as Co-chair of the Clinical Care Translation Task Force, where she leads efforts to develop tools that support efficient, guideline-based care delivery. This includes the integration of the Passport for Care tool, developed at Baylor College of Medicine, into COG efforts as the COG Passport for Care Liaison.
She also serves on the Executive Committee for the Childhood Cancer Survivor Study (CCSS) as the Education Chair, guiding the development and dissemination of patient-centered educational materials that translate complex research findings into meaningful, accessible information.
Outside of her academic and clinical roles, Dr. Foster also serves as a Medical Editor for the American Cancer Society. In this national position, she ensures that millions of patients, families, and providers have access to trustworthy, accurate, and actionable cancer information—helping to close gaps in education and health literacy at scale.
Dr. Foster is deeply committed to improving the lifelong health and well-being of childhood cancer survivors through clinical care, research translation, education, and advocacy.
