Personal Statement
I have spent my entire career as a Physician Assistant working with children – initially with a group of general pediatricians here in the Houston area and now with the Otolaryngology Department here at Texas Children's Hospital since 2002.
As a native Houstonian, I feel quite privileged and called to work in “my own hometown/community” caring for kids and their families in the out-patient clinic. I work at both the Main Campus and the Clear Lake Specialty Center. I am also involved and have special interest in ENT care for children with history of cleft lip and palate and work with the Plastic Surgery Department Team for these children.
I feel like a silly joke can be a good way to make a child feel more comfortable in a setting that they may otherwise be nervous about. Sometimes, allowing a child to ask questions or hold the otoscope (the flashlight we use to look in the ear) will also help “break the ice.” Since each child is unique and their families need to understand their child’s medical condition to make the best decision for them, I hope to answer all questions that I can regarding the ears, nose and throat.
