Personal Statement
Jessica Garza is a senior speech-language pathologist at the Texas Children's Specialty Care in Clear Lake and an educator for the upWORDS program. In her speech therapy role, Jessica provides direct care to the pediatric population in need of speech-language services. Within upWORDS, Jessica educates families in both English and Spanish on early language and brain development. Her background as a speech therapist supports her role in upWORDS in informing parents about the importance of interactive talk for brain growth and language stimulation. Being a first time parent herself in 2017 and partaking in the upWORDS program, Jessica enjoys sharing her own personal experiences with families. In addition, Jessica informs families about resources available to them should their child need early intervention following the upWORDS program.
Jessica strives to provide quality care to the pediatric population with speech and language disorders. She also wants to educate families on early childhood development, specifically language and communication development, and provide early childhood intervention.
