Dr. Tamesis is an allergist immunologist specializing in the evaluation and treatment of pediatric asthma; allergic nasal, eye and skin conditions; eosinophilic esophagitis; food allergies; contact dermatitis; stinging insect and drug allergies; anaphylaxis; hereditary angioedema; food protein enterocolitis syndrome; chronic cough; vocal cord dysfunction; and primary immunodeficiencies.
Her diverse educational and teaching background includes:
- As Chief resident, she taught staff and assisted pediatric residency education fellows and program directors at the four teaching hospitals of Albert Einstein College of Medicine.
- As first year allergy-immunology fellow at Lucile Packard Children’s Hospital, she worked with the Pulmonology team in cystic fibrosis and heart lung transplant care at the Stanford University Hospital in Palo Alto, California while studying T-cell cytokine responses to house dust mite immunotherapy in vitro.
- After her experience as general pediatrician the Rio Grande Valley, she pursued a Master of Public Health at the Bloomberg School of Public Health focusing in health policy and management.
- She completed her fellowship at National Jewish Health in Denver where her research interests included health disparities, childhood asthma in immigrant populations, and the effectiveness of school-based asthma screening and management programs through the Denver Public Schools.
- She is a volunteer faculty at the University of the Philippines College of Medicine.
- Prior to joining Texas Children’s Hospital, Dr. Tamesis was in solo private practice providing patient centered allergy, asthma and immunology care for adults and children.
She utilizes evidence-based and published guidelines in her treatment approach while adhering to individualized medicine as it applies to the unique needs of the families and patients.
Personal Statement
It is my privilege to collaborate with my patients' care team, and I value shared decision-making with parents and health care providers. I strongly advocate for health systems that support a culturally sensitive care environment for young patients and families while enhancing self-care and autonomy for adolescents and young adults as they transition out of children's hospitals.
