Personal Statement
I like to assure children, teens and families that a behavioral health session is as important for our mental health as a yearly well-child exam is for our physical health and that these visits are often as much about helping us see what is going well in our lives as it is about identifying areas for growth.
I lead my sessions at Texas Children’s Pediatrics from a client-centered and strengths-based perspective with the hope that children or teens and their parents feel sturdier, more confident and more prepared for the challenges they are facing than when they arrived. I can provide support for common concerns that occur during early childhood; school, social and peer-related issues and developmental concerns such as aggression, lagging impulse control skills and poor emotion regulation, tics, worry or fears, toileting, eating/feeding, and sleeping challenges; and common adolescent concerns such as anxiety, depression, academic challenges or screen use concerns. I can provide general mental health assessment, ADHD assessment, and risk assessment as well as CARS-2 autism screenings.
My values are centered on respecting the family's values and strengths while bringing clarity to goals related to their behavioral health needs. I look forward to being a behavioral health home base for families in the Beansprouts clinics.
