Personal Statement
Katie is a licensed Physical Therapist in the Physical Medicine and Rehab Department at Texas Children’s Hospital, Medical Center. She provides specialty physical therapy care in the Texas Children’s Hospital Vascular Anomalies Center and has achieved Complete Lymphedema Therapist certification (CLT) through the Academy of Lymphatic Studies. She provides physical therapy assessment, treatment, referrals, intervention, and recommendations for variety of diagnoses that may cause developmental delay, impaired mobility, pain, and activity restrictions. She specializes in lymphedema management, developmental therapy, pulmonary rehabilitation, postural dysfunction, and gait training among other pediatric therapy specialties. She also has training in pain management, myofascial release, and kinesiotaping.
Katie has initiated and collaborated in the development of the Texas Children’s Hospital “Decongestive Therapy/Lymphedema Management Program.” She has participated in research for Effects of Complete Decongestive Therapy on Quality of Life for the pediatric population.
Katie also works with the multidisciplinary Texas Children’s Hospital Plagiocephaly Clinic to address postural dysfunction and torticollis associated with head shape deformities. She also provides specialized gait training as part of the Lokomat Intensive Therapy program for robotic assisted gait training.
