About

Dr Kriti Puri is a pediatric cardiac intensive care physician and pediatric cardiologist with a special focus on advanced heart failure and mechanical circulatory support. Boarded in both pediatric cardiology and pediatric critical care medicine, she practices in the cardiac intensive care unit as well as on the pediatric heart failure and transplantation service. Her wide scope of training provides her the skills to provide comprehensive care for children with heart disease in multiple clinical settings and provide seamless communication and collaboration between the various teams caring for these complex patients. In addition to clinical practice, she pursues her interests in a research capacity as well, leading several collaborative projects between the critical care and cardiology (heart failure and transplant) teams. Her research interests include critical care practices and outcomes of children in advanced heart failure or on mechanical circulatory support, hematologic aspects of the care of these patients (including anemia, iron deficiency, blood transfusion practices, and anticoagulation), and their nutritional support (including specific nutritional deficiencies, undernutrition, and obesity).

She also has an interest in academic and creative writing, having authored a young adult fiction book titled “Kian and the Secret of Track One”, and serving as the Editorial Fellow on the Editorial Board of Pediatrics in Review since 2020. She is also a regular reviewer for multiple journals including Journal of Heart and Lung Transplantation, Pediatrics, and Pediatric Critical Care Medicine. She is invested in the well-rounded care of children with heart disease and their families and is the co-founder of an early childhood literacy and reading program called “Books@Heart” at the Texas Children’s Heart Center in 2021.
