About

Dr. Fakhoury's major interest lies in the area of airway disease, primarily bronchopulmonary dysplasia (BPD) and asthma. She is actively involved in the care of children with severe Bronchopulmonary Dysplasia and specifically those who go home on ventilators. Dr. Fakhoury established the Tracheostomy /Home ventilator clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital where she and her team provide comprehensive pulmonary care for this high complexity population to help with transitioning care to their home environment and equipping their caretakers with knowledge and expertise to manage day to day care and help them to treat acute illnesses to lower the need for hospitalizations.  She published data on Serial changes in Lung function during early childhood in a cohort of children with BPD,(Pediatrics 2010). And is planning on evaluating lung function and pulmonary status at school age on the same cohort.

Dr. Fakhoury is also highly interested and has great  expertise  in managing children with  wheezing, chronic cough and asthma and children with special needs. She enjoys her community clinic at Texas Children’s Hospital  Sugar Land health center where she was one of the first physicians to start that clinic.

Dr Fakhoury  is heavily  involved in education and training of pediatric residents and pediatric pulmonary fellows and she is the associate program director for the pediatric pulmonary fellowship program at Baylor College of Medicine.
