About

Texas Children’s Hospital Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery (Ear, Nose, and Throat) is a leading national and international provider of high-quality, innovative, family-centered pediatric ENT care.  Dr. Messner joined the TCH team in 2019 after spending 23 years on the faculty of Stanford University where she was chief of pediatric otolaryngology and the residency program director. Clinically, she is experienced in all aspects of pediatric otolaryngology and in recent years has had a special interest in the area of obstructive sleep apnea, ankyloglossia (tongue-tie) and care of the child with craniofacial disorders.  Dr. Messner is a leader in pediatric otolaryngology and the Past-President of the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology.  She is actively involved in the training of physicians and is currently completing a 6-year term on the national Otolaryngology residency review committee for the Accreditation Council of Graduate Medical Education. Dr. Messner serves as a Senior Examiner for the American Board of Otolaryngology/Head & Neck Surgery and is also the Associate Editor for Pediatrics for a leading Otolaryngology journal entitled Laryngoscope.

Clinical Interests:

Obstructive sleep apnea, otitis media, ankyloglossia (tongue-tie), neck masses in children, velopharyngeal insufficiency, ENT issues in velocardiofacial (22q11 deletion) syndrome

Research Interests:

Pain management after pediatric ear, nose and throat procedures, ankyloglossia, perioperative steroid use, education of medical professionals

Dr. Anna Messner has been recently board certified in Complex Pediatric Otolaryngology, a new board exam in which she was a part of the inaugural class along with 14 other Texas Children's Hospital ENT physicians.
