The Microtia and Atresia Program at Texas Children’s Hospital has been caring for children since 2008. It is a multidisciplinary care team that includes pediatric otolaryngologists, pediatric audiologists and a patient care coordinator to help create a comprehensive treatment plan.
Microtia and ear canal atresia are relatively rare conditions and present unique challenges for hearing rehabilitation and ear reconstruction that need to be addressed in a coordinated way. We are able to offer an individualized plan of care including the latest in diagnostic workup, hearing aid technology and surgical interventions in one setting, starting from early infancy into teenage years. Because we have the necessary team of specialists in one single location, access, communication and coordination of care are optimized.
