Registered Nurses (RNs), with certified critical care certifications (CCRN) or Certified Emergency Nurse (CEN)
Registered Pediatric Respiratory Therapists, with NPS (neonatal pediatric specialty)
Emergency Medical Technicians (EMT)
Appropriate specialty physicians provide remote online medical control and supervision throughout transit.
Missions requiring specialty care can include other specialty providers with additional training to treat specific patient needs that may include:
Neonatal nurse practitioner (NNP) for NICU patients
PICU physician for pediatric patients
Labor and delivery RN for maternal patients
Intensivist, Surgeon
Perfusionist for ECMO transport
Training, talent and teamwork
All transport team members are proficient in the clinical competencies within the scope of their practice. Each member meets prerequisite qualifications and has completed the educational and clinical components of training. All demonstrate critical thinking skills and can react to challenges.
Every team member has:
A background in neonatal, pediatric critical care, EC Level I Trauma
At least three years intensive care experience or Level 1 Trauma
Annual flight and ground training
Special training and continuing education requirements in advanced skills, including extensive Simulation Based Training
