October is National Physical Therapy month and we invite you to read a little bit about who we are and what our profession strives to accomplish! During October we hope to bring additional awareness to the American Physical Therapy Association’s mission to transform society by optimizing movement to improve the human experience.

At Texas Children’s Hospital, we strive to live out this mission every day. Our board-certified sports physical therapists work hard to provide personalized one-on-one evaluations and treatment plans to meet the specific needs of each athlete. As sports physical therapists we realize no two athletes are alike. Whether the athlete’s goal is to return to a competitive level of play or just be able to participate in physical activity, we will help them achieve their goals. Our goal is not only to help these athletes return to their previous level of play, but help them build a strong foundation to prevent future injuries throughout the duration of their athletic careers.

At Texas Children’s we live the American Physical Therapy Association’s mission through our work in the clinic and our participation in community outreach programs. Texas Children’s has many community partnerships with youth sports programs around the Houston area so we can support our athlete’s and keep them safe on the field. Our care begins the moment your child sustains an injury and does not end until they are ready to return to their sport. We encourage any athlete in the community struggling with an injury to reach out to us in order to get their rehabilitation process started. We look forward to serving our community even more and helping middle and high school athletes in the Houston area lead healthier, happier lives!
