HOUSTON - (Aug. 20, 2015) - Texas Children's Hospital's Surgery Physician Assistant (PA) Fellowship is currently accepting applications. The fellowship is a 12-month didactic and clinical program designed to extensively train physician assistants to become leaders in all areas of pediatric surgery. As the first-of-its-kind in the country, Texas Children's PA fellowship program provides a unique opportunity for the fellow to gain hands-on experience and explore the full spectrum of pediatric surgical subspecialties including: congenital heart surgery, pediatric surgery, neurosurgery, otolaryngology, plastic and reconstructive surgery, trauma, urology and an innovative new addition, surgical hospitalists.
Led by Dr. Larry Hollier, chief of plastic surgery at Texas Children's,Ryan Krasnosky, PA-C, academic director, Kristen Daniels, PA-C, and Jordan McAndrews, fellowship coordinator, the one-year program includes 10 months of clinical pediatric surgical subspecialty experience and one month of basic laboratory research. The fellow will then be able to elect which surgical division they would like to focus their training on for the remainder of the program. Training will be provided in clinics, on the surgical floors and in the operating room and will involve pre-, intra- and post-operative care.
