The Power of Collaboration

At the Cerebellum Science Center, we believe in the power of cross-institutional, multidisciplinary collaboration to yield new insights and innovations. Our first-of-its-kind research network includes over fifty members and partners who are drawn from institutions across the Texas Medical Center and around the world. This growing team brings unique expertise and skillsets from a wide array of domains—neurology, genetics, bioinformatics, artificial intelligence, epilepsy, neuroimmunology, orthopedics, and more—to create a uniquely integrated approach to studying the cerebellum.

Our Leadership

Dr. Roy Sillitoe, PhD

Director, is a leading cerebellar scientist whose research integrates anatomy, development, genetics, physiology, and therapeutics to uncover mechanisms of cerebellar function and dysfunction.

Dr. Javier Medina, PhD

Co-Director, is a prominent neuroscientist specializing in cerebellar learning, behavior, and neural computation.

Dr. Huda Y. Zoghbi, MD

Director of the Duncan Neurological Research Institute, is a renowned clinician-scientist whose groundbreaking work in neurogenetics and neurodevelopmental disorders has transformed our understanding of cerebellar dysfunction.

The Texas Children’s Difference

As part of a leading, highly collaborative network, our Center is uniquely positioned to accelerate discoveries and develop better treatments for brain disorders. Our researchers work not only within our core facilities but also across partner institutions locally and internationally, giving us a truly global reach. Access to advanced technologies and a vast repository of anonymized patient data allows us to uncover deeper insights into disease drivers and hidden patterns. With state-of-the-art research platforms—including drug discovery tools, bioengineering cores, behavioral research suites, and research-grade imaging—we provide an ideal environment for investigating complex brain networks using innovative, multidisciplinary approaches.
