Get to know Sindhura Vangala, MD
Dr. Vangala joined Texas Children’s Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine after completing her residency and fellowship training. She is a native Houstonian who moved around the world and country for higher education, eventually returning to Houston to begin her career.
Dr. Vangala is most passionate about the intersection of medicine with psychiatry, which led her to work in the field of consultation-liaison psychiatry. She enjoys working with her fellow physicians from other specialties to better care for patients and address their issues from multiple angles, whether it’s solving a complex psychopharmacological question or being the first person to identify that a patient is suffering from a new onset post-partum depression.
Dr. Vangala chooses to focus her career on the rapidly growing and exciting field of reproductive psychiatry, as the importance of women’s mental health personally resonates with her on many levels. “Women undergo so many changes to their bodies throughout their lives and everyone responds to these changes differently,” she says. “I find it very rewarding to be there for women to help them regain and maintain a sense of confidence and mental well-being.”
