Robin Schlosser has been a physical therapist at Texas Children’s Hospital since 2005 and currently serves as the Physical Therapy Specialty Coordinator for Critical Care. This role has given her the opportunity to drive changes in the developmental care practices for inpatients throughout Texas Children’s Heart Center.
Robin has a passion for helping kids to be kids. Her specific clinical and research interests include optimizing developmental care provided for patients in the cardiac intensive care unit (CICU) and developing programs for patients on ventricular assist devices (VADs). She has spoken nationally on the rehabilitation of patients on VADs and was instrumental in the creation of Developmental Care Rounds in the CICU at Texas Children’s Hospital. She is passionate about interdisciplinary collaboration in an effort to optimize long-term outcomes for our patients as well as education for the multidisciplinary team and families on the importance of neurodevelopmental care in the CICU. Another goal of hers is incorporating simulation into therapy practice and training; thus far, simulation has been incorporated into the ECMO mentors program and lines and tubes simulation has been implemented for new hires.
