Personal Statement
All children are inherently athletes, whether it is playing on the playground to playing varsity football. Sports are important not only for a child’s health but also for their development, teaching them valuable life skills like team work and self-discipline. When a child has an injury prohibiting them from participating in sports it affects not only their physical well-being but also their social and psychological well-being. When it comes to my approach to patient care, I believe in listening to the patient's history and combining this with the patient's physical exam to come to a diagnosis and subsequently an individualized treatment plan based on that patient's particular needs and goals. I believe that one of the most important aspects to patient care is educating patients and their family which empowers them to take part in their own care. The majority of my patients are youth and adolescents but I have cared for athletes of all ages.
Clinical Interests: My clinical interests include treating team-sport athletes and athletes for which I am a former athlete myself including running, rugby, and rowing (crew).
