Get to know Anna Rueda, MD, FAAP
Dr. Rueda grew up in East Texas in her hometown of Tyler. After graduation from residency, Dr. Rueda and her husband, Dr. Jaime Rueda, spent three years working for the Indian Health Service as physicians on the Navajo reservation in Shiprock, NM. She returned to Baylor College of Medicine as an Assistant Professor in the Department of Academic General Pediatrics in 2016. She spent two years working as a primary care physician in the Texas Children’s Complex Care Clinic where she cared for some of the most medically complex children in Houston.
In 2018 she transitioned all of her clinical time to a general pediatrics teaching clinic associated with the Harris Health System in Pasadena, TX where she taught, supervised and mentored hundreds of pediatric residents and Baylor College of Medicine students.
From 2021-2024, Dr. Rueda was the Vice Chair and subsequently the Chair of the Baylor College of Medicine Curriculum Committee, and she also served as an Assistant Clerkship Director for Baylor Medical Students from 2022-2024.
She has given numerous lectures, workshops and poster presentations based on her interests in medical education topics such as providing effective feedback and supervising and leading a team.
Personal Statement
I am a general pediatrician who believes access to quality health care is a fundamental right for all children and important for building a healthy community. I am passionate about providing both evidence-based and family-centered care that meets the specific needs of my patients and their caregivers. Additionally, as a clinician educator, I love passing on my knowledge and skills to train and inspire the next generation of pediatricians!
