  • Placenta accreta
  • Hypertensive disorders

Expert high-risk perinatal care

As a critical care obstetrics patient, you’ll be cared for by a dedicated ICU team including 24/7 critical care physicians, maternal-fetal medicine specialists, and an ICU-trained and ACLS (advanced cardiovascular life support)-certified nursing staff – all in a state-of-the-art facility that ensures the latest life-saving equipment and fetal monitoring systems.

A multidisciplinary approach

Our ICU team collaborates closely with Baylor College of Medicine subspecialties including Cardiology, Hematology and Nephrology, among others, in the ongoing management of your care, as well as surgery when necessary.

If you’re an expectant mother with a history of cancer or a new cancer diagnosis, you’ll also benefit from the expert care and the most advanced treatment therapies available through our renowned colleagues in Gynecologic Oncology.

A family-centered birth experience

While a serious illness or medical condition adds to the complexity of any pregnancy, we understand that the birth of your child remains one of the most important times in your life. Our goal is to keep you and your baby together whenever possible, although in some cases newborns require special care in our NICU nursery. Even then you can see your baby and talk with the NICU care team without ever leaving your hospital bed using Family Vision, our state-of-the-art videoconferencing system.
