Texas Children’s is dedicated to helping patients who have undergone bone marrow transplantation live their lives to the fullest after treatment.

Emotional and social challenges

The period after a bone marrow transplant can be a challenging and stressful time. It will take time for your immune system to recover from a transplant, and preventing infection is an effort that affects the whole family. Home-schooling, avoiding large crowds and public areas and limiting the number of visitors to your home can take a toll on the entire family. During this period, which can last up to 1-2 years, you may begin to feel isolated from your friends and classmates. It may seem as though life is happening around you, but not with you.

Connect, Celebrate, and Build Friendships

Living through a bone marrow transplant can be challenging for patients and families. Our social events provide opportunities to connect with others who share similar experiences, build friendships, have fun, and simply enjoy time together away from medical appointments and treatments.

Throughout the year, the Cell Therapy and Bone Marrow Transplant Program hosts a variety of special events for patients and families. Information about upcoming events will be posted here as it becomes available.

These events are made possible through the generous support of the His Grace Foundation, Faulk Foundation, Riley's Cause, Stuff the Sleigh, and other philanthropic organizations.
