It’s common to lead a busy, fast-paced life, and regular days are often packed with numerous priorities and obligations when you run a family with children. It’s also common to overlook nutritious eating if faster, cheaper options are available, especially when you’re short on time, energy, food stability, etc.
Unfortunately, these eating habits can potentially bring significant consequences. Obesity is serious, costly and dangerously common, impacting 32 percent of children in the United States and leading to complications such as coronary heart disease, diabetes and fatty liver disease, amongst others, which could cause compromised health, weakened quality of life and decreased life expectancy.
It might seem daunting to consider making nutritious, tasty and family-friendly meals on a regular basis, which is why our team at Texas Children’s wanted to collaborate with a local restaurant to help arm parents with simple, healthy and delicious recipes to try at home with the kids. Cooking with your children is quality time spent together, and it’ll be easier to pass along food knowledge and positive eating habits to your children as they grow older and become responsible for their own diet, like when go away for college.
We’ve been working with True Food Kitchen in an effort to show families how healthy eating can be attainable, palatable and enjoyable to make, and we’re eager to share three original recipe videos they crafted in collaboration with 10Ben and Video by Robot.
Ready to cook? We’re going to share these recipes throughout the month of March, right here on the Texas Children’s blog, so keep an eye out for the first delicious creation next week.
