Autism Program Research

Investigators at the Autism Program understand the importance of autism research and actively pursue a wide range of studies focused on autism spectrum disorder (ASD). There is frequent collaboration among researchers both within Texas Children's Hospital and Baylor College of Medicine and with other renowned centers across the country. This includes cooperation on several network studies aimed at understanding the causes and course of ASD.

Current Studies

  • Periodically, the Autism Program has studies that are actively enrolling participants. Many of these are managed by Dr. Robin Kochel and her research team. To learn more about autism research at the Autism Program and across Baylor College of Medicine and Texas Children's Hospital, visit Dr. Kochel's lab page and the Clinical Trials page.
  • Simons Foundation Powering Autism Research for Knowledge (SPARK)

If you or your child has a professional diagnosis of autism, Texas Children's Hospital Autism  Program invites you to learn more about SPARK, a new online research study sponsored by the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative. The mission of SPARK is clear: speed up research and advance understanding of autism by creating the nation’s largest autism study.

Joining SPARK is simple – register online, provide a DNA sample via a saliva collection kit in the comfort of your own home and earn up to $50 for your efforts.

Register in person at the Texas Children's Hospital Autism Program by contacting Andrea Simon | andrea.simon@bcm.edu | 832-824-3624, or visit www.SPARKforAutism.org/TexasChildrens. Together, we can help spark a better future for all individuals and families affected by autism.
