About this Symposium

This symposium is designed to provide a dedicated forum to discuss the diagnosis and management of patients with coronary artery anomalies (CAA).

Topics include anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA) and myocardial bridge.

Provided by Texas Children's Hospital.

Program Overview

Sudden cardiac death (SCD) in the young is a rare but devastating event that affects families and communities. Anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA) is the second leading cause of SCD in young athletes. The absolute risk is unknown, thus controversy exists regarding patient evaluation and management, also true for patients with myocardial bridges (MB). Moreover, exercise activity is controversial upon such diagnoses. Modes of imaging and functional myocardial assessment remain controversial.

This symposium is designed to provide a dedicated forum to discuss the diagnosis and management of patients with coronary artery anomalies (CAA). Topics will include anomalous aortic origin of a coronary artery (AAOCA) and myocardial bridges.
