Surgical Oncology Program

The Surgical Oncology Program at Texas Children’s Hospital provides highly specialized surgical treatment for children with a cancer diagnosis.

The surgeons in this program come from a variety of surgical disciplines and are experienced in the surgical treatment of all types of pediatric cancers – from the most common to the extremely rare. They also provide surgical treatment for solid tumors affecting all age groups from infants to young adults.

The Surgical Oncology Program is an integral part of Texas Children’s Cancer Center. The surgeons work alongside our oncologists to treat solid tumors in a multidisciplinary fashion. Our surgeons accept referrals from across Texas and beyond for complex pediatric solid tumor patients. Both the surgery and oncology teams are involved in determining the most effective individual treatment plan for each child.

The Texas Children’s Surgical Oncology Program brings together the finest talents in general and thoracic surgical oncology, orthopedic oncology, neurosurgery, head and neck surgery, urology, gynecology, cardiovascular surgery, oncologic transplantation, ophthalmology and plastics/reconstructive surgery to diagnose, plan and execute surgery for even the most complex of cases.

Our surgeons work hand-in-hand with our pediatric anesthesiologists and pain management services to provide the highest level of care to our pre- and post-operative cancer patients.
