Ewing Sarcoma Center

Patient and Family Support Services

The Faris D. Virani Ewing Sarcoma Center draws upon several support programs available at Texas Children’s Cancer Center for patients and their family members. These support programs are part of our multidisciplinary approach to helping each patient family through the emotional challenges faced during their treatment journeys.

The Periwinkle Arts in Medicine Program

The Periwinkle Arts in Medicine Program conducts art workshops at our outpatient and inpatient clinical settings. Patients, along with their parents and siblings, can participate in these activities as a way of self-expression and stress relief.

The Adolescent and Young Adult Program

The Adolescent and Young Adult Program supports the emotional well-being of teens of all diagnoses. With Ewing sarcoma being more common in adolescents, our center partners with the Adolescent and Young Adult Program to facilitate support and camaraderie among patients bound together in their treatment journeys.

Recreational Camps

The physicians and staff at Texas Children’s Cancer and Hematology Center are intimately involved in the camping opportunities that are available exclusively for our patient population. For example, patients have the opportunity to attend a free, week-long summer camp, called Camp Periwinkle, that allows patients to spend time away from the hospital setting.
