About Us Primary Cesarean Delivery Rate

Why is the primary cesarean delivery rate important?

Cesarean delivery is associated with longer hospital stays and other complications for both you and your baby. Preventing avoidable first cesarean deliveries could mean fewer complications for mothers and babies. This means shorter hospital stays, shorter recovery times, and a lower overall cesarean delivery rate. These are all things that can lead to lower costs for patients and for healthcare as a whole.

What does the primary cesarean delivery rate measure?

This is the percentage of women delivered by cesarean who have never had a cesarean before. Experts have not yet agreed on a specific goal for this rate. We work at reducing this rate while always providing the safest possible care for mothers and babies.
