Get to know Sarah B. Whittle, MD
Dr. Sarah Whittle is the Director of the Soft Tissue Sarcoma Program at Texas Children's Hospital and the leader of the solid tumor clinical research team. She has served as the principal investigator for several clinical trials related to pediatric solid tumors, and is nationally recognized for her expertise in the care of children with these diseases.
Dr. Whittle attended the Warren Alpert School of Medicine at Brown University for medical school, and remained at Brown for her pediatric residency training. She then completed her pediatric hematology-oncology fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine/Texas Children's Hospital, and completed an additional year of training to further specialize in the treatment of pediatric solid tumors. She holds a masters degree in clinical investigation from Baylor College of Medicine. At the national level, Dr. Whittle is a member of the Children's Oncology Group Bone and Soft Tissue Sarcoma committees, and is involved with planning upcoming clinical trials within these groups.
Dr. Whittle treats patients with all pediatric solid tumors including neuroblastoma, rhabdomyosarcoma, osteosarcoma, Ewing sarcoma, and other rare bone and soft tissue sarcomas including synovial sarcoma, liposarcoma, BCOR and CIC-DUX sarcomas, alveolar soft parts sarcoma, and others.
She is board certified by the American Academy of Pediatrics in Pediatrics and in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology.

Dr. Whittle is an expert in the design and conduct of clinical trials for pediatric solid tumors. She has served as principal investigator of several investigator initiated, cooperative group, and industry sponsored clinical trials, and currently leads a Children's Oncology Group national phase I-II clinical trial investigating a new agent for use in pediatric solid tumors and lymphoma. At Texas Children's, she is the team leader for clinical research and oversees the conduct of studies that enroll pediatric and adolescent young adult solid tumor patients.
