Personal Statement
Every patient/family has a unique constellation of physical, psychological, cultural, and spiritual factors that influence their ability and choice to participate in health promotion and disease related activities. I strive to deliver competent, compassionate, family-centered and developmentally appropriate care with respect for the unique features of each patient/family. My clinical interests are caring for children and adolescents with epilepsy, specifically those with refractory epilepsy treated with vagus nerve stimulation and/or the ketogenic diet. My current research interests are transition of adolescents with epilepsy and cognitive impairments from pediatric to adult care, psycho-social aspects of epilepsy, efficacy and side effects of the ketogenic diet for the treatment of epilepsy, and epilepsy in Rett syndrome and MECP2 related disorders.
