Get to know Maria "Mariki" van Vuuren, PT
Personal Statement
Maria (Mariki) van Vuuren, PT joined the sports physical therapy team at Texas Children’s Hospital – The Woodlands in August of 2016. A native of South Africa, Mariki brings a strong manual therapy background to her treatment approach. While in South Africa, Mariki had the privilege of serving as a physical therapist for the Pretoria Blue Bulls rugby team and the 1999 African Games. As a C2 Certified Schroth Therapist, Mariki specializes in the treatment of scoliosis and spinal injury. Mariki is currently completing course work towards a Doctor of Physical Therapy degree which she hopes to complete in 2020. She considers it to be a great honor and responsibility to provide physical therapy services to her patients in order to help them return to unrestricted competition and activity.
* Schroth Therapy:
*C1 and L1 certified therapists are able to treat idiopathic adolescent scoliosis
*C2 certified therapists are able to treat idiopathic adolescent scoliosis, post-surgical patients, adult scoliosis, and treat with group sessions
