Keshawadhana Balakrishnan, MD

Dr. Balakrishnan is an Assistant Professor of Pediatrics within the Section of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition, Department of Pediatrics at Baylor College of Medicine and an Attending physician at Texas Children’s Hospital. Dr Balakrishnan’s area of focused interest is in gastrointestinal motility disorders having completed an advanced fellowship in neurogastroenterology and motility. She is part of the Neurogastroenterology and Motility program caring for children with a wide variety of motility disorders including children with chronic constipation, Hirschsprung disease, anorectal malformations, achalasia, gastroparesis, functional gastrointestinal disorders, neurogenic bowel in spina bifida in addition to a wide variety of other common pediatric gastrointestinal disorders. Her philosophy of care in patient care is to work together with the patient to accomplish a desired goal. She believes in applying her skills, experience, judgement combined with the advancing technologies to each clinical situation. Dr. Balakrishnan’s ultimate aim is to establish a trusting and caring relationship with her patients while working to improve their quality of life.

Her current and continuing research and diagnostic interests includes predicting clinical outcomes of cecostomy with colonic manometry and the utility of mucosal biopsies in colonoscopy during colonic motility catheter placement procedures.
