Dr. Bryan Vartabedian is the Chief Pediatrics Officer of Texas Children’s Hospital Austin. As a pediatric gastroenterologist and seasoned healthcare leader, he brings expertise in strategic planning, inpatient/ambulatory operations, outpatient surgical management, process improvement, clinical technology adoption, health care communications/social strategy and physician management.
Integral in the conception, design, building and activation of TCH The Woodlands, Dr. Vartabedian has helped shape a blueprint for subspecialty care that extends beyond the boundaries of the traditional children's hospital. As part of the leadership team of Texas Children's expansion into the Austin market, he is excited to scale the legacy and success of America's largest pediatric hospital system.
Dr. Vartabedian is passionate about communication and education and the translation of medical information for parents. He is the author of Looking Out for Number Two – A Slightly Irreverent Guide to Poo, Gas and Other Things That Come Out of Your Baby (HarperWave, 2017) and Colic Solved – The Essential Guide to Infant Reflux and the Care of Your Screaming, Difficult-to-Soothe Baby (Ballantine/Random House, 2007).
Beyond his operational responsibilities, Dr. Vartabedian is a full-time faculty member at Baylor College of Medicine, where he has driven programs and policies around technology and medicine. As a professor at Rice University, he is shaping the next generation of medical thought leaders as Associate Director and cofounder of the Medical Futures Lab.
Dr. Vartabedian lives in Austin, Texas with his wife and two Australian labradoodles.
