“We are thrilled to see our expert team recognized for their commitment and passion for leading the way in delivering state-of-the-art pediatric cancer treatment and in developing innovative new therapies through our cutting-edge laboratory and clinical research efforts,” says Dr. David Poplack, director of Texas Children’s Cancer Center and professor of pediatric oncology at Baylor College of Medicine. “Our ranking further confirms our standing as a national leader in the treatment of children with cancer and our dedication to providing the most advanced care for our patients.”

Each year, U.S. News ranks pediatric hospitals overall, including ranking across 10 major subspecialties for the top 50 pediatric hospitals. These rankings are the result of a methodology that weighs a combination of outcome and care-related measures such as nursing care, advanced technology, credentialing, outcomes, best practices, infection prevention and reputation. In addition to Texas Children's Cancer Center’s #2 ranking, Texas Children's Hospital is ranked fourth among all children's hospitals nationally and is one of only 11 hospitals to achieve the Honor Roll designation by U.S. News & World Report. Texas Children's is also the only hospital in Texas – and the southern U.S. – awarded this distinction.

With a staff of renowned experts in the treatment and research of childhood cancer, Texas Children’s Cancer Center has developed a wide array of programs aimed at curing children with diagnoses ranging from the most common to the very rare.

The Center’s Precision Oncology experts are leading cutting-edge studies to understand how genome sequencing can be used to identify the unique mutations in each child’s tumor and implement more precisely-targeted, patient-specific treatments. These strategies are now also being incorporated into the pediatric cancer clinic to enable our specialists to make the most informed decisions possible for the care of each child evaluated and treated at Texas Children’s Cancer Center.

The Developmental Therapeutics and the Cell and Gene Therapy Programs have achieved national recognition as major leaders in the development of novel approaches to pediatric cancer, giving patients access to the most advanced and innovative targeted therapies, as well as cellular therapies. Working closely with referring physicians and families, appropriate options for each individual child are identified and the child and whole family are supported through the entire treatment process.

The Texas Children’s Cancer Center Rare Tumors Program is the only pediatric program of its kind in the southwest U.S. It is comprised of a multidisciplinary team of pediatric oncologists, surgeons, pathologists, geneticists, immunotherapists and other clinical researchers who work together to achieve the best outcome by developing personalized treatment regimens for even the most rare tumors of childhood.

As the largest pediatric cancer center in the country and with the incredible partnership of academic affiliate Baylor College of Medicine, Texas Children’s Cancer Center provides personalized, high-quality, family-centered care to children, adolescents and young adults with cancer. Its patients come from more than 35 states and 26 countries to receive the most advanced therapies.
