Health Professionals Intensive Outpatient Program

To refer your pediatric patient to the Intensive Outpatient Program, please complete the following steps.

General Information

Texas Children's Hospital Intensive Outpatient Program is a bridge between inpatient and traditional outpatient care for patients 12-17 years of age who cannot function successfully in their current environment (e.g., home and school) with weekly outpatient therapy but do not need inpatient psychiatric hospitalization.  This program offers individualized, evidence-based, measurement-informed patient and family-centered care occurring 3 days per week/4 hours per day.  Patients can remain their community and home setting as they continue with school and family activities.

   • Suicidal ideation and/or self-harm
   • Significant impairment in daily functioning such as challenges functioning at home, school, or with peers
   • Chronic emotion dysregulation with moderate to severe stress, anxiety, depression, or mood difficulties
