Get to know Tina Melicoff, MD
Dr. Melicoff received her M.D. degree from TEC de Monterrey in 2003. She did a post-doctoral fellowship on basic science until she entered her intership in Pediatrics in 2007. She trained in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonary Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine. Dr. Melicoff has worked with the Pediatric Lung Transplant team at Texas Children's Hospital since 2013. Together with a group of specialized clinicians and nurses she takes care of children with respiratory failure who need or have received a lung transplant. Because research is very important for the improvement and understanding of transplant care, she is involved in multiple research studies with collaborators at BCM and across the United States. She is the site PI in multicenter studies from the Clinical Trials in Organ Transplantation for Children, she collaborates with experts in transplant immunology and microbiome and has made important contributions to a study measuring quality of life in lung transplant recipients. Dr. Melicoff is very passionate about her work, she is inspired by children and families that the transplant team has impacted over the years.
